MAGNOS Magnetic Chucks

Machining from 5 sides in just one setup

As the workpiece can be placed flat onto the MAGNOS magnetic chuck, all five sides of the workpiece can be machined at the same time in simply one setup. The workpiece will be fixed on one side only.

Shortest possible setup times and a resulting increase in productivity

With MAGNOS , the workpiece can be clamped within seconds. It is no longer necessary to spend time on the fine adjustment of the clamping elements or on changing the setup of the workpiece while it is being processed – nor are time-intensive setup periods and machine downtimes required.

Increased tool life and process safety

The permanent magnetic clamping force is applied uniformly across the entire workpiece, thereby effectively minimizing vibrations. This improves surface finishes and increases precision significantly.

Gentle clamping means no deformations

Thin-walled or sensitive workpieces are clamped gently yet safely by the magnetic clamping force of MAGNOS. The workpiece neither wraps nor twists, nor is it crushed because of force applied to a point. Surfaces are protected from the type of damage that may result when using traditional clamping technologies.

Low investment, flexible and independent

MAGNOS can be used independently from the type of machine, does not require any previous planning and does not depend on a technology system or any specific system interfaces. Interventions in the machine programming are not necessary.

Adapts perfectly to the contours of the workpiece

Workpieces of any structure can be perfectly clamped using MAGNOS pole extensions. The pole extensions adapt perfectly to the contours of the workpiece – the workpiece is supported and rests solidly on the extensions, enabling it to be machined from all five sides.

Flexible EASYTURN Pole Extensions

Owing to the unique modular design of the EASYTURN pole extensions, the magnetic clamping force can be redirected along the horizontal and vertical axis, depending on the way the workpiece is to be clamped. This flexible axis shift in two directions is made possible by the combination of a fixed pole with a spring core, a buffer zone, and a switchover coupling.

Depending on the setting, the flexible upper part of the pole adapts to the workpiece through a diagonal movement upwards or to the side.

When power is applied, the magnetic force acts upwards on the workpiece.

Modularity of the EASYTURN Pole Extensions

By simply rotating the coupling by 180° and switching it over, the magnetic force is redirected by 90° vertically instead of horizontally.

The magnetic force acts sideways on the workpiece. Uneven (round) workpieces are thereby clamped safely from two sides.

MAGNOS with UNILOCK-Interface

Combined with a SCHUNK UNILOCK quick-change pallet system, MAGNOS magnetic chucks are even more efficient. The highest possible flexibility in production and an enormous reduction of set-up costs are convincing arguments for the version with SCHUNK UNILOCK interface.

The magnetic chucks can be exchanged within seconds at a repeatability of less than 0.005 mm. Moreover, if a magnetic chuck is clamped with a SCHUNK UNILOCK interface, highest clamping forces are ensured when the magnetic chuck is exactly positioned on the machine table. Control is done by a control unit which has to be ordered separately.
